You must also recognize these forms of intellectual property to counsel a client to seek protection for their property rights. If you have clients who perform services or provide products, they cannot afford for you to miss this program.

Environmental Law, Future Regulatory Policies and Law on Going Green
Not since the dawn of environmental regulation in the early 1970s has there been a more exciting time to practice environmental law. After eight years of inaction, the U.S. is moving forward on climate change regulation. We will discuss the most significant implications of the legislation before Congress, EPA’s regulatory efforts and litigation surrounding climate change. Green building is expanding rapidly. We will discuss trends in local ordinances associated with green building requirements, including any in Missouri and the new litigation that could arise from green building. Finally, renewable fuels are being touted as both a solution to climate change and a way to enhance our energy security. We will discuss efforts to promote alternative energy in Missouri. While each of the topics is worthy of its own program, we hope that, along with the course materials, our program will give you a snapshot of where things currently stand on these developing areas and the resources and insight to pursue them further.
