Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a full-time staff attorney in its Joplin office to provide legal counsel and court-room advocacy on behalf of survivors of domestic violence in a six (6) county service area in Missouri.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, representing survivors of domestic violence in obtaining orders of protection and related domestic issues, including dissolution of marriages and custody matters. Responsibilities also include providing education in self-advocacy; and working with advocacy organizations.

Trial preparation and in-court appearances will be required along with administrative duties.

The Joplin office is staffed by four experienced attorneys and three paralegals. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, representing survivors of domestic violence in obtaining orders of protection and related domestic issues, including dissolution of marriages and custody matters. Responsibilities also include providing education in self-advocacy; and working with advocacy organizations. Trial preparation and in-court appearances will be required along with administrative duties.

The qualified candidate must have the following:

• Active Missouri Bar license
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Desire and commitment to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal assistance
• Ability to speak a second language, preferred, but not required
• Courtroom experience, preferred

Salary: $65,000 + DOE
