About Us:  The Office houses more than eighty (80) civil servants. 

The City Counselor serves as chief counsel to elected City officials, boards and commission, as well as departments and agencies - including the St. Louis Development Corporation, the Metropolitan Police Department, and Lambert International Airport.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Performs moderately complex legal research and writing.

Provides legal advice and representation on a wide variety of legal matters involving municipal law to boards, commissions, officials, departments, and employees under general supervision.

Either handles civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels in both state court and federal court under general supervision or; alternatively, prepares and reviews contracts, leases, ordinances, resolutions, policies, and other transactional, legislative, and administrative documents under general supervision.

Either prepares written discovery, takes and defends depositions, and argues motions under general supervision or; alternatively, coordinates, prepares for, and attends public meetings under general supervision.
