Position Summary:
The Missouri Board of Law Examiners is responsible for administering the bar examination and determining the character and fitness and eligibility of all applicants seeking admission to the bar in Missouri. The executive director provides management and support for all aspects of the bar admissions process, including oversight of the board’s office, budget, and staff.
Responsibilities:
· Assists the board in:
o Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to the bar admissions process;
o Drafting recommendations to the Supreme Court of Missouri regarding amendments to Rule 8 and the regulations;
o Conducting administrative hearings involving character and fitness reviews;
· Updates online Missouri law materials for board review;
· Serves as the primary point of contact to outside entities on board’s behalf in various capacities;
· Coordinates with other agencies and law schools as needed;
· Informs board and Supreme Court of Missouri about developments related to legal education and bar admissions;
· Oversees the application and admission process, ensuring adherence to compliance and regulations;
· Directs staff and processes for conducting background investigations of applicants and administration of the bar examination and grading;
· Verifies the accuracy of examination scores and oversees release of examination results. Prepares and analyzes statistical data related to the bar examination scores;
· Prepares and analyzes statistical and other data related to application processing
· Oversees fiscal operation, including payroll and benefits, preparing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with state fiscal requirements;
· Supervises and manages the board’s staff, including all aspects of human resource management.

· Leadership, problem solving, and sound decision-making skills
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and timeliness
· Solid understanding of human resource management and ability to coordinate with the board and the Court on human resource issues as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a master’s degree and five years’ professional management experience.
Law degree preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
Annual starting salary up to $112,000 depending on qualifications.
This position is eligible for full benefits and leave accruals provided through the Board of Law Examiners.
