Family-owned and operated real estate development company based in St. Louis, Missouri seeks an experienced real estate and/or construction law attorney to join its established in-house legal department.

Qualified candidates should have significant prior legal experience working on a variety of sophisticated real estate development and/or construction projects in either an in-house legal department or law firm.

Duties:
Reviews various agreements and key legal documents including contracts, leases, licenses, purchase and sale agreements, easements, insurance provisions, legal pleadings, loan agreements, etc.

Represents the organization in key transactions and prepares key legal documents such as purchase and sale agreements, leases, license agreements, easement agreements, restrictive covenants, and material legal correspondence.

Represents and advises the organization on various commercial real estate issues that arise throughout the acquisition, development and construction processes.

Researches and analyzes laws and regulations necessary to complete their work.

Contributes significantly to and may lead (in the absence of the Senior Associate General Counsel or General Counsel) legal department meetings and initiatives and assists in protecting an organization’s legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.

Typically reports to the Senior Associate General Counsel or General Counsel.

May lead and direct the work of Senior Corporate Counsel, Corporate Counsel, Staff Attorneys, paralegals and support staff.

Independently manages the operations of one or more key departmental functions within the broader legal department, including real estate, construction law, acquisitions, litigation, lending, intellectual property, etc.

Comprehensive and advanced knowledge of the overall departmental function is required but may consult with the Senior Associate General Counsel, General Counsel or outside counsel on specialized issues.

Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admittance to a state bar.

Typically requires 8+ years of related experience.

This is an in-person office position; standard office hours are required.
