Duties of the Executive Director, Missouri Office of Prosecution Services
1. Lead and manage a team of statewide resource prosecutors, general counsel, technology, and administrative staff (some employees are remote employees) to fulfill MOPS’ statutory responsibilities as listed in Section 56.750, RSMo.
2. Represent the interests (including the proposed modification or creation of new criminal laws) of all state prosecutors in the General Assembly, serve as the registered lobbyist for the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and coordinate legislation with paid lobbyists on behalf of the Association, represent the interests of all state prosecutors with the Governor’s Office and other executive agencies/departments, and on serve committees of the Supreme Court (see below).
3. Direct responsibility for all financial aspects of MOPS (e.g., authorizing/approving receipt of revenues and expenditures; budget preparation).
4. Engagement, coordination, training of all elected prosecutors and the circuit attorney and their assistants and staff.
5. Direct oversight of VOCA Grant administration/delivery of services.
6. General Oversight and Management/Use of Other Grants (e.g., computerization; traffic safety; John R. Justice assistant prosecutor loan repayment program).
7. Serve as needed as a Special Prosecutor for conflict cases or assist local prosecutor in trying cases as available (e.g., was Special Prosecutor last year before the pandemic on a child sexual abuse case from Polk County which resulted in a conviction).
8. Media Relations/Public Relations.

a. Missouri Crime Records Automation Advisory Committee
b. SAFE Kits Multi-Disciplinary Working Group of the Missouri Attorney General.
-Evidence Tracking subcommittee of SAFE KITS.

d. Missouri Juvenile Justice Advisory Board.

10. Pursuant to Section 56.265.2, RSMo, provide a certificate of completion to each prosecuting attorney who completes at least twenty hours of classroom instruction each calendar year relating to the operations of the prosecuting attorney's office and send a list of certified prosecuting attorneys to the treasurer of each county. Prosecutors must complete such a program each year or lose two thousand dollars of his/her salary.
11. Pursuant to Section 56.750, RSMo., provide a certificated of compliance to each prosecuting attorney who complies with the data collection and provision of criminal disclosure according to the Prosecutor’s Training Council’s approved methods.
12. Supervise a Wrongful Conviction Unit created pursuant to Section 547.500 RSMo.
Compensation is based upon experience and is negotiable within the range of annual salary between $120,000.00 and $140,000.00.
