The Missouri State Teachers Association is a state-wide organization with over forty thousand (40,000) educator members.

The Missouri State Teachers Association provides a variety of services to members including assistance with employment-related legal issues through in-house legal staff and a network of attorneys across the state.

We are currently seeking a Staff Attorney to operate out of our Columbia, Missouri headquarters.

You will work with two other attorneys and a legal assistant to answer member’s questions on FMLA, ADA, EEO, and MCHR. You will also field questions concerning education law under the Teacher Tenure Act, IDEA, FERPA, etc. In addition, you will help create and provide training on these topics to members and coworkers.

The Staff Attorney responds to member needs primarily over the phone and some written correspondence. Limited travel throughout the state is required for educational presentations.

Hearings are conducted by outside counsel and there is no hourly billing or time keeping required.

Typically work can be completed in a regular 8 hour day/40 hour week.
