Legal Aid of Western Missouri seeks a full-time attorney for its new office in Independence, Missouri.

The attorney will be part of the team that also provides legal representation in our Warrensburg service area.

This litigation-centered role will involve a case load consisting of 50% family law (domestic violence prevention) and 50% general practice, with an emphasis on consumer defense, including debt defense in both rural and urban counties.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has experience independently managing a caseload.

The position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after six months of employment.

The qualified candidate must have the following:
-Active Missouri Bar license or eligible for licensure in Missouri through reciprocity
-Computer proficiency
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Desire and commitment to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal assistance
-Ability to speak a second language, preferred, but not required
-Courtroom experience preferred
-Experience handling community development cases is preferred, but not required


Salary: $70,000 + DOE
