The City of Springfield will be hiring two (2) Assistant City Prosecutors. This is a challenging and fulfilling opportunity for an attorney who embraces opportunities to learn new areas of the law and to positively impact our community.

These Assistant City Attorney positions may be filled at any level (Assistant City Attorney II-IV; please see "Functions" below for additional information) dependent on the candidate's qualifications and experience and the departmental need.

Pay starts at $63,273.60 for the Level II!


Functions for each Attorney Level:


The minimum requirements for an Assistant City Attorney IV are:

Graduation from an accredited law school;  AND  Eight years of legal experience.
Experience must be commensurate with current vacancy. In accordance with the City Attorney's policy on the promotion and retention of Assistant City Attorneys, employees in the classification of Assistant City Attorney III must have at least seven years of experience and satisfactory job performance with the City of Springfield before advancing to the classification of Assistant City Attorney IV.
Licensing/Certification:  Must be licensed to practice law by the State of Missouri.



The minimum requirements for an Assistant City Attorney III are:
Graduation from an accredited law school;  AND  Five years of experience in the practice of law.
Licensing/Certification:  Must be licensed to practice law by the State of Missouri.



The minimum requirements for an Assistant City Attorney II are:
Graduation from an accredited school of law;  AND  Three years of experience in the practice of law.
Experience must be commensurate with current vacancy.
In accordance with the City Attorney's policy on the promotion and retention of Assistant City Attorneys, employees in the classification of Assistant City Attorney I must have at least two years of experience and satisfactory job performance with the City of Springfield before advancing to the classification of Assistant City Attorney II.
Licensing/Certification:  Must be licensed to practice law by the State of Missouri.
