Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and
maintain compliance programs for the university dental clinic, promoting
adherence to HIPAA, privacy, Medicaid, and patient safety regulations
Serve
as a point of contact for compliance-related matters at the Joplin
campus, coordinating efforts to ensure consistent application of
policies and procedures
Lead university-wide privacy initiatives,
developing strategies to protect sensitive information and promote
compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations
Be an integral member of quality assurance initiatives and processes, leading development and refinement when needed
Conduct
regular audits and assessments to identify potential compliance risks
and implement corrective actions as necessary, as applicable to the
Clinic and the Joplin campus
Provide training and education to staff
and faculty on compliance and privacy matters, promoting awareness and
understanding of relevant policies and procedures
Collaborate with university leadership to develop and implement policies that support a culture of compliance and patient safety
Work closely with legal, compliance, oral health center administrators, IT and HR teams to implement compliance measures
Monitor
changes in laws and regulations related to healthcare compliance and
privacy, advising university leadership on necessary adjustments to
policies and practices
Assist in developing reports on compliance and
privacy activities in coordination with the General Counsel and Chief
Compliance Officer
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, law, or a related field
Minimum
of three years of experience in healthcare compliance, privacy, or a
related field, with demonstrated expertise in HIPAA and healthcare
regulations
Strong knowledge of federal and state privacy laws and
regulations, including experience transferable to managing
university-wide privacy initiatives
Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills and a strong customer service focus, with the
ability to effectively train and educate various campus groups
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks
Certification in healthcare compliance (e.g., CHC) and/or privacy (e.g., CIPP) is welcomed
