Husch Blackwell, in collaboration with the University of Kansas Office
of General Counsel, is offering a unique opportunity promoting career
advancement to those interested in the legal world of Higher Education.
The Husch Blackwell Higher Education Law Fellow will work on the KU
Lawrence Campus and assist KU General Counsel attorneys on a broad range
of legal issues including, but not limited to, labor and employment,
Title IX, contract review and drafting, claims and tort litigation,
campus development initiatives, regulatory compliance matters, research,
export control, faculty appointments and grievance processes, and
student conduct issues. The fellowship program is open to third-year law
students and recent law school graduates, including those who are
completing a judicial clerkship.
The Fellow may participate in
investigations, conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions and
other litigation-related documents, interview witnesses, prepare for
depositions, appear at conferences and university hearings, argue
motions, and provide strategic advice to University clients and
administrators.
The successful candidate must have excellent oral
and written communication skills as evidenced by application materials,
the strongest academic credentials and work ethic, demonstrate
initiative, leadership and motivation toward career goals and the
promise of becoming an outstanding attorney in higher education. The
successful candidate will have a J.D. from an accredited American law
school and membership in the Kansas bar or admission within 12 months of
hire (the selected candidate will be supported through the bar
examination process).
The Husch Blackwell Higher Education Law
Fellowship is a salaried position and offers a wide variety of
comprehensive and competitive benefits. The fellowship is a two-year
term commencing June 2026, with compensation of $95,000 per year.
