Remote work options are available up to four days in a five-day work week, following two months of successful orientation and on-boarding in-office.
The base salary offered for this position ranges from $80,000.00 - $89,992.92 annually, commensurate with education and experience. If the selected candidate is eligible for a pay differential, such as retention pay, the total salary may exceed what is listed in the posting.
This is a highly responsible position, reporting to the Department General Counsel. The Assistant General Counsel assists the General Counsel with all legal matters affecting the Department, which includes research, review, and drafting of various documents, contracts, policies, existing and proposed legislation, and advisory opinions relating to the Department. Responsibilities may include the following, as well as other matters as assigned:
- Review and analysis of HIPAA, BAAs, and Hi-Tech Certification;
- Preparation and submission of Fiscal Notes;
- Review and analysis of legislation and regulations;
- Research, review and drafting of various documents, including contracts, policies and advisory opinions relating to the Department;
- Review, analysis and assistance in promulgation of administrative rules and internal directives;
- Participation in numerous standing committees.
Periodic travel may be required.
Qualifications include: (1) Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law and a current license to practice law in the State of Missouri; (2) two or more years of professional legal experience, experience in administrative law, employment law and mental health or health care law, preferred; (3) communicate effectively, orally and in writing; and (4) maintain a high standard of ethics and professionalism.
