The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is seeking a highly motivated and experienced attorney to serve as a felony level assistant prosecuting attorney.

This position is responsible for managing and prosecuting a docket of felony criminal cases from initiation through disposition, including trials, plea negotiations, motion practice, and sentencing.

Key Responsibilities:

Prosecute felony criminal cases in accordance with state law, office policies, and ethical standards.

Manage a full felony docket, including charging decisions, discovery, motions, hearings, trials, and sentencing.

Conduct jury trials, evidentiary hearings, and motion hearings.

Review police reports, witness statements, forensic evidence, and other investigative materials.

Interview victims, witnesses, and law enforcement officers.

Engage in plea negotiations when appropriate and prepare written plea agreements.

Draft and argue motions, responses, and legal memoranda.

Maintain regular communication with victims and ensure compliance with victims’ rights laws.

Work closely with law enforcement, victim advocates, and support staff.

Ensure timely case progression and compliance with statutory deadlines.

Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.


Minimum Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Missouri.

Prior criminal litigation experience, preferably in felony-level prosecution or defense.

Strong courtroom presence and trial advocacy skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to manage a high-volume docket while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of experience handling felony cases.

Jury trial experience as lead or co-counsel.

Familiarity with digital evidence, forensic reports, and criminal procedure rules.

Demonstrated commitment to public service and victim advocacy.


Salary & Benefits:

Salary range: $80,000.00, commensurate with experience.
