A boutique family law firm located in the Kansas City metropolitan area seeks an associate attorney to assist with an overflow caseload. The firm's practice is exclusively devoted to family law, including dissolution of marriage, child custody, property division, and related matters, with active cases pending across multiple Missouri circuits. This is a litigation-focused position requiring a candidate who is prepared to be an active and independent participant at every stage of the litigation process.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a genuine interest in courtroom advocacy, sound legal judgment, and the ability to manage an active caseload with a meaningful degree of independence. A high level of professionalism and the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously are essential.


Responsibilities:

1) Manage assigned family law cases from intake through resolution;
2) Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and proposed orders;
3) Appear in court on behalf of clients across multiple Missouri circuits;
4) Conduct and defend depositions as needed;
5) Communicate regularly and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel; and,
6) Collaborate with firm leadership on litigation strategy
Maintain organized case files and meet all applicable deadlines

Education and Experience:

1) Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school required
Active Missouri Bar license in good standing required;
2) Family law experience preferred, demonstrated litigation experience in any civil practice area will be considered; and,
3) Ability to manage an active caseload with a meaningful degree of independence

Position Details:

The firm's primary interest is in identifying the most qualified candidate. Schedule and compensation will be structured accordingly, with both part-time and full-time arrangements available.
