The ideal candidate must be licensed to practice law in Missouri and should have either experience—or a strong interest in developing experience—in areas such as municipal law and prosecution, administrative law, land use, real estate, criminal defense, contract law, as well as business transactions and corporate governance.
The firm values candidates with strong research, writing, and computer skills. This role involves frequent interaction with clients, court staff, and city personnel. Responsibilities include helping clients in person, handling phone consultations, appearing in court, managing correspondence, and representing clients in municipal court as well as before public government bodies.

Duties
• Conduct thorough legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis or Westlaw to support legal analysis and case preparation
• Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, contracts, memoranda, and correspondence with precision and clarity
• Assist in managing client files and maintaining organized case records within the law office management system
• Participate in negotiations with opposing counsel or clients to achieve favorable outcomes while adhering to ethical standards
• Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses to gather pertinent information for ongoing cases
• Collaborate with team members on complex litigation strategies and case management tasks
• Assist with business transactions, including drafting and reviewing agreements, advising on entity formation and structure, and supporting governance matters

• Interest in or knowledge of various areas of municipal law, administrative law, public employment, litigation, law enforcement, government relations, and/or alternative dispute resolution
• Strong ability to manage a busy and complex workload

• Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and regulatory agencies
• Interest in or familiarity with business transactions, corporate governance, and advising small businesses or public entities on legal compliance and operational matters
Requirements
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to Missouri bar is required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis and/or Westlaw
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise legal drafting and administrative documentation
• Strong analytical skills to interpret laws and regulations across diverse practice areas
• Effective negotiation skills combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Prior experience practicing in a law office or government position is preferred
