Position: Full-time Staff Attorney

Location: Kansas City, Missouri area

Salary: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00, depending on experience.

Staff Attorney wanted for Kansas City office of Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services (Mo P&A), a non-profit, statewide, public interest law firm representing persons with disabilities. Will handle legal cases from initial client meeting through drafting of the complaint, discovery, and individual and systemic litigation in state and federal court, and administrative tribunals. Litigation, appellate, and motion practice experience strongly preferred. Missouri Bar license in good standing required; must be eligible to obtain federal licensure. Must be willing and able to travel statewide for case work and training, including overnight. Areas of practice include disability-related legal rights. No billable hours.

Required Qualifications:
● Licensed to practice law in Missouri.
● Licensed to practice before Eastern and Western District Courts of Missouri, the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
● Professional work or personal experience with individuals that have disabilities
● Knowledge of disability rights, disability service system, and benefits utilized by people with disabilities
● Effective verbal and written communication skills, including explaining complex rules and technical concepts
● Proficient in operating computer databases and software, including Microsoft Word, databases, and case management systems
