Missouri Press-Bar Commission
The Missouri Bar Board of Governors is seeking applications from members of The Missouri Bar from Greater Missouri (not Kansas City or St. Louis regions) for appointment to serve on the Missouri Press-Bar Commission. The term of service will begin on December 1, 2025, and end on November 30, 2029.
The Missouri Press-Bar Commission is composed of media professionals, lawyers and judges who work to foster better communications among the media, the bench, and the bar. The mission of the commission is: to encourage cooperation among the press, the bar and the bench to the end of further strengthening service to the First Amendment and Sixth Amendment of the United States Constitution throughout Missouri; to provide leadership and guidance aimed at achieving a better informed citizenry that will be served by a still higher order of justice; and to take whatever steps are necessary through an education program for the press, the bar, the bench, and the people of Missouri to promote a better informed citizenry and a strong First Amendment and Sixth Amendment.
The commission traditionally meets twice each year to develop a variety of projects and programs in furtherance of its mission.
The Missouri Bar appoints three members to the commission. According to the commission’s bylaws, the upcoming vacancy must be filled by a member of The Missouri Bar from Greater Missouri.
