Silya Shaw
Silya Shaw is currently the Deputy Executive Director at Legal Aid of Western Missouri, where she works on visionary projects related to client access and business process. She joined Legal Aid in 2014 as the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic Director, and in the last ten years has represented hundreds of taxpayers in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and state departments of revenue. She also handles real estate and probate matters for low-income Missourians. Silya holds a B.A. in Legal Studies (Park University), a M.A. in International Relations (American University), and a J.D. (University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law). She is currently working on an LLM in Taxation at Villanova University. Her most rewarding job is mom to her three children, Brooks, Scarlet, and Eleanor. In her spare time, Silya enjoys basketball, sand volleyball, and coaching her children’s youth sports teams.
