Schaffer & Associates, a Johnson County, Kansas litigation firm in existence since 1999, specializes in delivering counsel to large and small insurers and their insureds. 

We are currently seeking an associate attorney with a strong desire to develop their career as a litigator defending clients in a variety of legal actions.

Objectives of this role

Become well versed in insurance and personal injury law in Kansas and Missouri
Write succinct and persuasive motions and briefs in district and federal courts
Maintain a regular schedule of hearings, court appearances, depositions and mediations
 

Responsibilities

Draft and respond to motions and briefs
Maintain consistent client contact concerning case development
Perform legal research
Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses and experts
Attend court for hearings, pre-trial conferences and trial
 

Required skills and qualifications

Licensure in Kansas or Missouri (preference for both states)
Good writing skills
Strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to work independently and efficiently to maintain a case load and meet deadlines
