New Committee Proposals
Members of The Missouri Bar can request that the Board of Governors consider the establishment of a new open enrollment standing committee by following the New Committee Proposal process and meeting the minimum requirements for an application and a petition. Upon submission of a fully completed application and petition, the Board of Governors, as it deems necessary, can decide at its sole discretion whether to act on and/or approve/disapprove any proposal submitted.
A Missouri Bar open enrollment standing committee provides the following types of activities and opportunities for its members:
- Drafting and/or reviewing legislative proposals
- Developing and presenting continuing legal education programs and print materials
- Increasing public understanding of the law
- Helping educators teach young people about the justice system
- Developing a variety of programs and activities to help lawyers improve the efficiency of their practices
- Developing a variety of programs to maintain the highest level of professionalism among members
